How MOV to MP3 handles your data: your video files stay on your device, and the site itself collects very little.

Last updated: 2026-10-24

MOV to MP3 (movtomp3.org) pulls the audio out of video files. The conversion happens inside your own browser, so your files are never sent to us. This page explains the small amount of information the site does handle, who else sees it and how long it stays. "We" and "us" mean the people who run movtomp3.org.

The short version

  • Your video and the audio made from it never leave your device. We cannot see, keep or share them.
  • Nothing you convert is counted, logged or tied to you.
  • There are no accounts. We never ask for your name or email address.

Your files

When you pick a file, your browser reads it from your disk and hands it to a converter (FFmpeg, compiled to WebAssembly) that runs in a background worker. The finished audio is created in your browser's memory and saved when you press Download. No part of the video or the audio is uploaded, and closing the tab clears both from memory.

Emails. If you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can answer it.

What the site records on its own

  • Request logs. Like every website, our host processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, to deliver the site and keep attackers out.
  • The converter download. The first time you convert, your browser fetches the FFmpeg files from the jsDelivr CDN, which sees your IP address the way any CDN does.
  • Visit counts. We use Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing that identifies you. We see totals such as page views, countries and referring sites.

Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies. Your browser's local storage remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme; clearing site data removes it.

Services that help run the site

Each of these receives only what it needs for the job described:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the site; like any web host it sees your IP address when you connect. Your video files are converted in your browser and never sent to it.
  • jsDelivr — serves the open-source FFmpeg converter files your browser downloads; it sees your IP address like any CDN.
  • Plausible Analytics — counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.

We hand over information only when the law requires it or when it is needed to stop fraud or protect someone's safety. We don't sell personal information and don't share it for advertising.

How long things are kept

  • Your files: never stored by us; they exist only in your browser while the tab is open.
  • Request logs: kept by our host for a short period for security, then deleted.

Your rights

Ask us and we will tell you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it or delete it. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority.

Children

MOV to MP3 is not intended for anyone under 13. If we learn that we hold personal information about a child under that age, we delete it.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Because conversion runs on your device, there is no copy of your files on our side that could leak.

Where data is processed

Our host and CDN providers run servers in many countries, so request logs may be processed outside the country you live in.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how your files are handled, we will announce it on the site before it takes effect.
