OGG to MP3

Turn .ogg, .oga and .opus files into MP3 that plays on any device. OGG to MP3 runs in your browser: free, unlimited, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.

Your file is converted in your browser and never uploaded to our servers.

How to convert OGG to MP3

Start with a file that is already on your phone or computer.

  1. 1

Save the audio to your device

Export the voice note from the chat or copy the sound out of the game folder first. Then drop the .ogg, .oga or .opus file on the box above.

  2. 2

Pick a bitrate that fits the source

128 kbps is plenty for a voice message. Keep the 192 kbps default for game sounds and clips, and choose 320 kbps for music.

  3. 3

    Download the MP3

The new file keeps the old name, so PTT-20260311-WA0004.opus becomes PTT-20260311-WA0004.mp3 and still sorts by date.

Why use this OGG audio file to MP3 converter

Voice notes stay private

FFmpeg runs inside your browser tab as WebAssembly and reads the file from your own disk. A message from a friend never passes through a stranger's server.

Three extensions, one box

Ogg Vorbis files (.ogg), Ogg audio saved as .oga and Opus voice notes (.opus) all open here. We tested an Ogg Vorbis file ourselves and got a valid MP3.

Your bitrate, not ours

Choose 128, 192 or 320 kbps. Some converters lock you to a single setting, which wastes space on speech and shortchanges music.

Mono stays mono

Sample rate and channel count carry over from the source. A one-voice recording is not padded out to fake stereo.

Where an OGG file plays, and where the MP3 does

Ogg works well in browsers and open-source players. Outside them, support gets patchy fast.

Where OGG files come from, and the bitrate to use

Most OGG to MP3 jobs start with a file from software that prefers an open, royalty-free format.

Telegram voice messages

Saved Telegram voice messages are .ogg files with Opus audio inside. Convert at 128 kbps so they play in any audio app or in an email attachment.

WhatsApp voice notes

Exported WhatsApp voice notes arrive as .opus files. An MP3 opens on a laptop, in a transcription service or on a relative's old phone.

Game and app sound files

Many games and engines ship sound effects and music as .ogg. Pull one out for a video or a ringtone; 192 kbps keeps the detail.

Wikimedia and free sound libraries

A lot of audio on Wikimedia Commons is Ogg, and free sound libraries often offer it too. Use 320 kbps when it is music you plan to keep.

Open-source recorders

Audacity can export Ogg, and several Linux and Android recorders save it. Convert the take you want to share with people on Windows or Mac.

Podcast and radio downloads

Some community podcasts and internet radio archives publish Ogg. Turn an episode you downloaded into an MP3 for the car.

What is inside an .ogg audio file

Ogg is a container from the Xiph.Org Foundation, not a codec. The sound inside is usually Vorbis, the older codec common in games, or Opus, the newer one used for voice messages. The .oga extension is simply Ogg audio, and .opus is Opus in an Ogg wrapper.

Neither codec is MP3, so the audio is decoded and encoded again with the LAME encoder. That second encode can match the source but never improve it. Because Opus is very efficient at low bitrates, the MP3 is often bigger than the voice note it came from: about 0.96 MB per minute at 128 kbps.

Mistakes when you convert OGG to MP3

  • Mistake: Converting a one-minute voice note at 320 kbps.

Do this instead: That makes about 2.4 MB per minute for speech that 128 kbps, about 0.96 MB, already holds in full.

  • Mistake: Turning a looping game track into MP3 for a project that needs a gapless loop.

Do this instead: MP3 encoders add a short silence at the start, so the loop clicks or gaps. Choose WAV for loops.

  • Mistake: Pasting a chat or website link instead of a file.

Do this instead: The tool only reads files on your device. Save or export the audio first, and only convert files you have the right to use.

  • Mistake: Editing the MP3 in an audio app, then exporting MP3 again.

Do this instead: Pick WAV when the sound is headed into an editor, and encode to MP3 once when you finish.

What happens to your OGG file

It never leaves your device

Many online converters upload your audio and delete it hours later. Here the conversion happens in the tab; the only download is the open-source converter, about 9 MB, cached after first use.

Free, with nothing counted

No account, email, watermark or daily cap. Every OGG to MP3 conversion is free, however many voice notes or sound files you have.

Where another tool is better

Files convert one at a time, first audio track only. For a whole folder of game sounds, desktop FFmpeg or VLC will batch them faster.
