WebM to MP3

Convert WebM to MP3 right in your browser: free, unlimited, no sign-up. Your recording is never uploaded, and you pick 128, 192 or 320 kbps.

Your file is converted in your browser and never uploaded to our servers.

How to convert WebM to MP3

Three steps, all inside this browser tab.

  1. 1

    Drop your WebM file

Drag in a screen recording, a meeting file or a saved web video, or tap to pick one. Audio-only .webm voice notes work too.

  2. 2

    Choose MP3 and a bitrate

192 kbps is the default and suits speech and most listening. Pick 320 kbps for music, or switch to WAV or M4A if MP3 is not what you need.

  3. 3

    Download the MP3

The file keeps its original name, so meeting-2026-03-04.webm becomes meeting-2026-03-04.mp3. Convert the next one the same way.

Why use this WebM to MP3 converter

Your recording stays on your device

FFmpeg, compiled to WebAssembly, runs in your tab and reads the file locally. A recorded call or a private tab capture never reaches a server.

Reads Opus and Vorbis audio

WebM files carry Opus audio, or Vorbis in older files. FFmpeg decodes either one and the LAME encoder writes a standard MP3.

You choose the bitrate

128, 192 or 320 kbps for MP3, plus WAV and M4A. Some online tools use one fixed setting for you.

Tells you when there is no sound

If the WebM has no audio track, you see the message "This video has no audio track" instead of getting a silent MP3.

Which output to pick for a WebM file

The audio in a WebM is already compressed, so every choice except WAV is a second round of compression.

When people convert WebM to MP3

Most WebM to MP3 jobs start with something recorded or saved in a browser.

Screen and tab recordings

Browser recorders and screen-capture extensions save WebM by default. Keep the narration as an MP3 and drop the video.

Meetings recorded in the browser

Web-based call recorders often hand you a WebM. An MP3 is easier to send for transcription or to replay during a commute.

Lectures and webinars you saved

Saved web videos tend to be WebM. Listen to a two-hour talk as audio without keeping the full video on your phone.

Car stereos and older MP3 players

Many head units, USB players and older phones read MP3 but not Opus. Converting once makes the file play there.

Voice notes from web recorders

Online voice recorders often save audio-only .webm files. Turn them into MP3 for messaging apps and email.

Why a WebM file won't play in your car or iTunes

WebM is a container built for web browsers. Inside, the video is VP8, VP9 or AV1, and the audio is almost always Opus; older files use Vorbis. Browsers play both, which is why the recording looks fine in Chrome or Firefox.

Outside the browser, support drops off. Apple Music and iTunes won't import a WebM, many car stereos and portable players have no Opus decoder. MP3 is the format nearly all of them share.

Converting from WebM to MP3 means decoding the Opus audio and encoding it again. That second step can't add detail the recording never had, so choose the bitrate for how you'll use the file: 192 kbps for speech, 320 kbps for music.

Common WebM to MP3 mistakes

  • Mistake: Recording a tab or screen without sharing its audio, then wondering why the MP3 is empty.

Do this instead: Tick the share-audio option when you start the recording. If the WebM has no audio track, no converter can recover sound.

  • Mistake: Picking 320 kbps for a mic recording to make it sound better.

Do this instead: A higher bitrate only keeps more of what is there. For voice, 192 kbps gives a smaller file that sounds the same.

  • Mistake: Renaming .webm to .mp3 and hoping it plays.

Do this instead: The audio inside is still Opus or Vorbis. It has to be re-encoded, which is what the converter does.

  • Mistake: Making an MP3 first, then editing it and exporting again.

Do this instead: If you plan to cut or clean the audio, pick WAV. Export to MP3 once, at the end.

Privacy, cost and limits

What happens to your file during a WebM to MP3 conversion, and what the tool won't do.

Nothing is uploaded

The conversion runs in your browser. Many online converters upload your file to their servers; this one only downloads the converter, about 9 MB, once, then your browser caches it.

Free with no cap

No account, no email, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.

Honest limits

One file at a time, and only the first audio track. Very large recordings can run out of memory on a phone, so use a desktop browser for those.
